Municipalities with Public Sewer Systems Double

The more successful hamlets are now big enough, or close enough to recreational or protected water resources, that State and Federal funds become available for public sewers and treatment systems. The number of municipalities with treatment systems increased from roughly one-third in 2009 to two-thirds in 2027.

Sewer System Engineering Studies for 4 Towns

Hague, Lake George, Crown Point and Westport all won grants to conduct engineering studies for sewer system problems.  These typically precede construction grants.

Sewer Construction Grants for 3 Towns

The 2019 grants for sewer construction go to Ticonderoga ($5m), Moriah ($750k), and Saranac Lake ($930k).  The big Ti project is about separating storm water from sewage lines.

NYS Awards Lake George Another $9.4m for Sewage Plant

Replacement of the plant has begun.  This grant brings the NYS funds to $14.9m of the total $24m project.

$1m Grant Will Connect Tupper Water/Sewer to ACR Project

The funds will build extensions of Tupper Lake water and sewer systems to the ACR project.

Sewer systems in the two towns will have engineering work done to find sources and locations of inflows and infiltration into their existing systems.

Village of Lake George Sewage Treatment Plant Getting Major Upgrades

The Village of Lake George will be installing a sequence batch reactor as a new primary sewage treatment system as well as other upgrades that are in response to a state requirement that the amount of nitrates being released be dramatically reduced. In order to begin the project a moratorium will be placed on new sewer pipe hookups for the renovations.

Champlain Expanding & Improving Water Infrastructure

The Town and Village of Champlain's $13.42 Million water infrastructure expansion and improvement project will consolidate all existing Town of Champlain water districts into a new, Water District No. 6 and will expand service on Route 11 towards the Village of Rouses Point.

Newcomb Receives State Grant for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

The Town of Newcomb received a $2M grant and a significant interest-free loan in order to make needed infrastructure upgrades to its water and wastewater systems. The upgrades will go towards switching the Newcomb's drinking water from the Hudson to groundwater sources, improving 16 different wastewater facilities, and making the infrastructure more resilient to extreme weather.
